self portrait poetry series

The Self Portrait Poetry Series is a social media project that adapts Cato's longer written poetry into short poems in motion, performed to music and featuring intimate self-portraits that showcase a side of Cato not available through the breadth of her other work.

 

Her pen name for this project is Yung Cato; representing sorts of her identity, a side of her hip-hop upbringing blended with her spirituality as a soul which is  "eternal" (translation of yung in Cantonese), and an ode to her rebellious side that keeps her youthful– these poems in motion express some of her life lessons...
